A variety of black soap known as ose-dudu originated with the Yoruba people of Nigeria. A combination of ose-dudu with leaves of the tropical camwood tree (Pterocarpus osun) produces a popular kind of soap with exfoliating properties called dudu-osun.
Black soap has been found to have some antifungal properties against skin microbiota such as Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Candida albicans.
Many use the natural soap for bathing, their hair, and removing makeup. It also helps conditions like eczema and psoriasis. It is make from roasted cocoa (chocolate), plantain skin (rich in vitamin A&E, and iron), and palm oil from coconut husk. It is also known for its antiseptic properties and gentleness.
